"The greatest obstacle to love is fear. It has been the source of all defects in human behavior throughout the ages."
-Mahmoud Mohammed Taha, Sudanese reformer

Hassan FadoulFadoul-detail

Hassan Fadoul Abbakar was born in El Kamleen, Sudan, and graduated from the college of Fine and Applied Arts.

The first thing you notice when you see a Hassan Fadoul painting is the incredible blend of contrasting colors that, like a spectrum, seamlessly flow from one into another.

One of the first Sudanese artists to hit the Nairobi scene, he has become highly regarded, his paintings do not sit on the shelves for long. It's easy to see why: Abstract birds soaring over the heads of a vague human audience, Arabic symbolisms 'stamped' on top of flowing almost tie-dyed tints, and an entire canvas of hues harmonizing a central theme.

A trained eye can immediately tell a painting by a Sudanese artist. There are certain recognizable aspects that point you to this conclusion. Hassan Fadoul's work embodies all that is Sudanese art.

Fadoul won first prize in the International AIDS Awareness Day exhibition presented by the World Health Organization, and has participated in many workshops in and around Nairobi. His art has also been exhibited in Canada, France, and Germany.

Another Sudanese artist who is based in Nairobi, Abushariaa, and Fadoul, share a very similar style. I hope to be stocking some of Abu's work in the near future.
